*What is a Jump Company? When our 2 front line ambulances are out on a call and a 3rd Ambulance call comes in, if the Engine at Fire Station 3 is in Quarters, they take the Ambulance from that station and run the call. That places Engine 3 out of service until they return from this ambulance call. If that Engine is already on a call, we call a mutual aid ambulance from another town for that Ambulance call.
*Advanced Life Support means that on each of our responding vehicles is at least one manned Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technicians. These Engines and Trucks carry most of the same equipment, medicine, and heart monitors that the front line ambulances do. This means, that if an ambulance is on a call already, a fire engine or truck can get to your home or business fast and initiate advanced life support care.
