Higher Insurance Costs

Evanston enjoys lower insurance rates because of the Evanston Fire Dept's Class 2 ISO rating.  Cuts proposed will possibly impact our ISO rating, and may mean insurance policy costs will rise as a result.  The Department was upgraded in 2010 from an ISO 3 to an ISO 2, due to extensive work by Evanston Fire Department Administration and the Evanston Fire Fighters working hand in hand.  The staffing, training, water accessibility, and much more go into this factor.  The fact that the Evanston Fire Department is staffed to current levels helped to achieve this great accomplishment.
